AMC-101 AstroAlert Weather Monitor (Base Unit)
Product Description
The AstroAlert Weather Monitor System is a uniquely configurable weather monitor, engineered specifically for observatory use. The minimum base unit supplies precipitation (rain or snow) detection and ambient light awareness.
- Infrared sky temperature measurement, which is the most reliable measure of impending precipitation, can be added as an option.
- Ambient outside temperature/humidity/dewpoint can be added as an option.
- Finally, an anemometer can be added to measure wind speed.
All these options are mix/match. If you have an AMC-100 with a temperature/humidity/dewpoint kit already installed, there is no need to duplicate. Just as with other sensors, the PC software will pickup the best data available from wherever the source. An AMC-100 Series Hub or AMC-100M Mini-Hub is required for integration.
All the weather data is available via ASCOM compliant interface and is displayed in full on the AstroMC Dashboard, AMC-101 Driver Control window, and the ACP Web interface. Weather UNSAFE is communicated to telescope control programs for further (scriptable) actions.
Both Day and Dark Cloudy and Very Cloudy thresholds are user configurable within the driver if the Sky Temperature option is selected. See below for add-on options.

This inexpensive device allows users to integrate Weather Monitor and AtPark Monitor without needing a full-blown Hub such as the AMC-100. This allows our WeatherSentry users to integrate these devices as well. The standard unit comes with RS-232 interface and and includes a power adapter. This highly accurate Sky Temperature sensor option measures the average Infrared (IR) temperature of a 45 degreee cone facing upwards. We recommend that you place the AMC-101 in a location where the unit can face in a northerly direction away from the Sun and pointing away from buildings and trees. Both Day and Dark threshold settings help you detect Cloudy and Very Cloudy conditions. The anemometer option plugs in to the AMC-101. It will measure wind speed, but its primary astronomical use it to determine whether it's too windy to operate your equipment safely. Simply plug it in. Power on the AMC-100, and give the vanes a manual spin. The AMC-101 will detect the presence of the unit and begin measuring wind conditions.
